What is a Female CONDOM | Sexual Health | Doctor Explains

Added May 13, 2026

Description

Internal condoms also known as female condoms are an actual alternative to the external condoms that are more popular. They offer similar great protection against STIs and pregnancy if used correctly. They work by creating a barrier within the v4gina that stops sperm from getting to the egg so you can’t get pregnant. They are not strictly birth control methods as they can also prevent STIs by decreasing your chances of coming in contact with bodily fluids that may spread STDs. The difference between this and the more common condoms are that these go inside the v4g1na for pregnancy protection or into the v4g1na/anüs for protection against STDs.
