They Built the Most Perfect Medieval City Ever in 30 Seconds 🏰

Added May 13, 2026

Description

The most perfect medieval city ever built. We reconstructed the entire construction of Carcassonne, France — from the first Roman workers cutting the bedrock of the Carcassonne hill to the complete double-walled medieval city with 52 towers standing above the Aude River — using AI. Carcassonne has been fortified for over 2,500 years. The current walls were built in multiple phases from the 3rd century Roman period through the Visigoth occupation to the French royal construction under King Louis IX and Philip III from 1240 to 1285 AD. The city has a double ring of defensive walls — an inner curtain wall and an outer wall — with a wide defensive corridor between them called the lices. There are 52 towers across both wall rings — a mix of round French royal towers and earlier square Visigoth towers. Carcassonne was never taken by force in its medieval history. It is the most complete surviving medieval fortified city in Europe. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Subscribe for a new ancient wonder rebuilt every day.
