Cyclone Ditwah is bringing dangerous rain to Sri Lanka. 🌀🌧️ The slow-moving system along the southern coast has intensified into Cyclone Ditwah after dropping 300 mm of rain in Rugam on Wednesday. As of Thursday 27 November, 14:30 SLST, it was ~150 km SE of Colombo, with winds 65 km/h, gusts 80 km/h, moving NNW at ~7 km/h. Ditwah is very likely to keep moving north-northwest across the southwest Bay of Bengal, remaining a cyclonic storm and intensifying as it approaches the Indian coast on Sunday, then nearing Chennai on Monday. Sri Lanka hazards: • 💨 Strong winds up to ~70 km/h (gusts ~80 km/h) • 🌧️ Very heavy rain: 200+ mm in northern & central provinces, 150+ mm in western/eastern areas, 100+ mm elsewhere • ⚠️ Flash floods and landslides likely Follow official warnings.
